Cobras Soccer of the Optimist Club of Cooper City

The Optimist Club of Cooper City is the organizer of the Cobras Soccer, a cluster of recreational and competitive soccer programs that caters to the youths of Cooper City. Facilitated completely by volunteers, the Cobras Soccer currently operates three youth soccer programs and one adult team.

The Optimist Club Recreational Soccer league is held annually from mid-November through mid-February. Registration is open to kids aged 5 to 17 and usually starts in the a weeknight at either 6:30pm or 8:00pm and the other on a Saturday running from 9:00am through 4:30pm.

All-Star teams are chosen mid-way through the season and an All-Star Day is held, with games for each age division. After 12 to 14 games, elimination playoffs are held. The season ends with a Soccer Fest weekend which consists of Championship games for each age division on Saturday and a Charity Game on Sunday.

The Cobras 5v5 Soccer League on the other hand offers quick-paced small-sided games. Each team consists of only eight players instead of the usual 11. There are no goalkeepers and games last for only 40 minutes, divided into two 20-minute halves. Like the Recreational League, teams also play two games per week; one on a weeknight at either 6:30pm or 7:30pm and the other on a Saturday running from 9:00am through 2:00pm.
