Cooper City Commissioners
The city of Cooper City functions as a Commission-Manager Plan. The Mayor and City Commissioners are tasked with policy-making, goal-setting, and determining the local tax rates while the City Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the city administration.
The city of Cooper City has four commissioners, one for each district. Each serves a three-year term in office with a maximum of three terms. The city commissioners for districts 1 and 2 are elected on the same year and every third year thereafter while the districts 3 and 4 along with the mayor are elected the following year and every third year thereafter.
The current City Commissioners of Cooper City are the following: John Sims for District 1, Lisa Mallozzi for District 2, Bart Roper for District 3, and Elliot Kleiman for District 4. The City Commission holds regular meetings every second and fourth Tuesday of the month.
On January 29, 2008, Cooper City will hold its local elections for the the mayoralty seat and positions for city commissioners for Districts 3 and 4. Incumbent Mayor Debby Eisinger and District Commissioner Elliot Kleiman are seeking reelection but Bart Roper will not be aspiring for another term after bearing the scandal of a DUI charge.
