Law Enforcement in Cooper City
Since the merger of Cooper City’s police and fire rescue departments with the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) in February 2004, BSO has been the provider of law enforcement, fire rescue, and code-compliance services for the city.
BSO’s law enforcement department in Cooper City currently holds office in 10580 Stirling Road. With an annual operating budget of $8.2 million, the police department is able to provide for 75 positions including one district chief, one commander, one lieutenant, eight sergeants, 45 deputies, community service aides, a crime scene investigation aide, and other supplementary positions.
The BSO police unit on Cooper City also employs two K-9 teams and a Selective Enforcement Team. Some of the services offered by the local law enforcement department to Cooper City residents are Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT), Citizens Observer Patrol (COPS), and RAD kids which teach children basic self-defense techniques that could be used in child abuse or molestation situations.
