Scandal in Cooper City High
The senior class president of Cooper City High School was arrested on December 12, 2006 and charged with two counts of computer crime with intent to defraud. Eighteen-year-old Ryan Shrouder, who also serves a student advisor to the county school board, was accused of changing his grades and those of his other classmates by using an employee password and a school district laptop computer.
The felony case against Ryan Shrouder carries a maximum sentence of 30 years. Shrouder posted a $5,000 bond and has pleaded not guilty to the charge. Three Cooper City High students were also suspended and were recommended for expulsion but Shrouder remains the main suspect.
Ryan Shrouder has been an elected leader of his class since his sophomore year. He is well-liked by his peers and has even been voted “most likely to be president of the United States.”
