History of Cooper Lighting in Peachtree City, Georgia
Cooper Lighting is a manufacturer of lighting fixtures based in Peachtree City, Georgia. Before it was acquired by Cooper Industries, the company which was established in the 1950s was known as Halo Lighting. Halo grew from a one-room facility to an international company with warehouses Los Angeles, New Jersey, and Toronto, Canada. It also became a listed company in the stock market.
In 1967, Halo Lighting was acquired by the McGraw-Edison Company and a few years later, more warehouses were put up in Dallas, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia. The product lines also increased and more versions and designs of various lighting fixtures were developed. It was in 1985 that Cooper Industries took over the ownership of McGraw-Edison Company and two years later, Cooper Lighting was formed.
Cooper Lighting managed to enlarge its international market by opening a facility in Baja California in 1993. In the same year, the company also established another facility in Ellaville, Georgia. Three years later, Cooper Lighting built a 485,000 square-foot customer center in Peachtree City, Georgia which currently serves as the company headquarters and central facility for warehousing and distribution operations. In the succeeding years, Cooper Lighting successfully acquired several lighting fixture manufacturers in different parts of the country such as Denver, New York, and California. Today, Cooper Lighting is one of the biggest lighting fixture companies in the US, producing 13 brands and managing ten facilities in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
