March 11th, 2008Adrian Cooper, a resident of Oklahoma City, first made his mark in the University of Oklahoma as a football player. Then he ventured into the stock market as a stock broker for Merrill Lynch and eventually got busted for fraud and money laundering.
In September 2006, Cooper was found guilty of securities fraud and money laundering and was sentenced to 75 months in prison and ordered to pay $1 million. Apparently, Adrian Cooper of Oklahoma City directed investors to send money to him or to a third money for the supposed purpose of investing it in stocks. However, Cooper used the funds for his own personal use. In 2005, he was indicted on charges of mail fraud, wire fraud, securities fraud, use of false social security numbers, and money laundering. Adrian Cooper put forward a guilty plea before a federal court in Oklahoma City.
