Schools

There are several public and private schools in Cooper City accommodating students from primary to high school. The city currently has three public elementary schools, one middle school, and a high school.

Cooper City Elementary has the biggest population with more than 1,000 pupils. Embassy Creek Elementary has the second highest number of students and also boasts of a Five Star Award, a distinction given to Broward Schools which have shown excellent family, school, and community involvement. Griffin Elementary School has around 600 students and has received an A grade from the Florida Department of Education in the school year 2006-2007 along with the two other public elementary schools mentioned earlier.

The Pioneer Middle School accommodates more than 1,700 students and has also received an A grade for the past four years. Cooper City High School has more than 2,000 students. For the academic year 2006-2007, its rating went down to a B from an A during the previous year. It received a C in 2004-2005.

Cooper City also has three private schools. The Temple Beth Emet Day School is a Jewish primary school, the Flamingo Road Christian Academy is a Baptist elementary school, and the Nur Ul Islam is a Muslim school that accepts primary to high school students.

A number of students from Cooper City also go to public schools in nearby towns and cities of Broward County such as Davie and Weston. Some of these schools are Flamingo Elementary School, Hawk Bluff Elementary School, Falcon Cove Middle School, Indian Ridge Middle School, Tequesta Trace Middle School, Cypress Bay High, and Western High School.

Some of the universities and colleges with over 2,000 students near Cooper City are Nova Southeastern University, Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Broward Community College, Florida Atlantic University, and Keiser College which are all located in Fort Lauderdale. The neighboring town of Davie also houses the campuses of Florida Atlantic University and Nova Southeastern University. Nearby colleges in Miami are Barry University and Miami-Dade Community College.

The city also has a community school for adults. The Cooper City Community School offers adult academic programs as well as career development, programs for children and teens, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and General Educational Development (GED) curricula, employability skills, high school diploma, and lifelong learning classes.

Cooper City was recently selected by Family Circle magazine as one of the top ten best towns in the US for families and one of factors which qualified the city was the good academic performance of its schools.
